Long Island Real Estate
Long Island real estate comes in a tremendous diversity of styles, sizes and prices; the stereotype Long Island property is probably to be found in Nassau or
Suffolk County rather than in the Brooklyn or Queens counties which are part of the five boroughs of New York City. To many the image of Long Island real
estate is of a large sprawling mansion in the Hamptons, originally used as holiday homes by the rich and famous; indeed Long Island, is the sixth wealthiest
area in America, it’s located just east of Manhattan off the southeastern tip of New York State. Long Island is renowned for its many beautiful white sandy
beaches, a favorite holiday destination for generations of New Yorkers.
With regard to Long Island real estate there are five main regions:
- North shore; Long Island real estate to die for, the area has so many opulent mansions and estates, many of them built at a time when wealthy business
tycoons wanted a summer retreat and could afford the staff to look after the property.
- South shore; Long Island real estate for those wanting to be in the heart of the action, the island’s mecca for spectator sports and entertainment, also
starring Fire Island Beach and Jones Beach.
- Central Suffolk; Long Island real estate of two contrasts, home of the mega retail shopping experience of Tangers and yet has an abundance of unspoiled
forests and hidden natural inlets.
- North Fork; Long Island real estate with a rural flavor, traditional farms and vineyards that are growing in stature and reputation in a world which is
becoming more and more educated with regard to quality wine. My dream Long Island property!
- South Fork; Long Island real estate more commonly recognized as the celebrity playground for the rich and famous, charming, village style living and
world famous beaches.
Whilst on the subject of Long Island real estate we must just touch on a little of the make up and history of some of its more noticeable points. The Town of
Hempstead is the largest township in the United States, with a population approximating 725,000 people, and a land mass of some 142 square miles. Comprising
51 unincorporated areas and 22 incorporated villages, it has no less than 65 parks and marinas, the world renowned Jones Beach and Long Beach and an
incredible 2500 miles of city, county, state and federal roads. With a population approximating 725,000 people, and a land mass of 142 square miles.
Old world mansions like the Sands Point Preserve and Old Westbury Gardens call the Town of North Hempstead home. The turn of the twentieth century saw the
industrial barons flock to the north shore of Long Island where they built magnificent homes on huge acreages. These people were well educated and had often
traveled abroad, they often chose to build their Long Island properties in the architectural style of the castles of Europe, surrounded by beautifully
landscaped gardens. These homes still stand proudly proclaiming the opulence of a bygone era and occupy prime sites on Long Island's Gold Coast. Long Island
property of such magnificence and beauty, enough to inspire daydreams. Oyster Bay occupies the eastern part of Nassau County, reaching from the Long Island
Sound in the north to the Atlantic Ocean in the south it owes its name to the oysters once harvested from the waters of the north shore.
